What's New: T&R Precheck Phase 2 – Take Action & Automated Rights Enforcement | 20 October 2026

We’re pleased to introduce a new feature T&R Precheck: Take Action, a premium offering which expands Talent & Rights protection across your digital ad serving workflow. You can now choose how rights issues are handled before trafficking, validate usage rights across destinations and territories, and automatically help prevent creatives from serving when their rights expire during an active campaign.

Highlights

  • Flexible Pre-Trafficking Controls — Choose whether rights issues appear as warnings that allow trafficking to continue or as blocking errors that must be resolved before launch.
  • Comprehensive Rights Checks — Validate channel, destination, destination category, geographic territory, and usage-term rights before campaigns are trafficked.
  • Automatic Protection During Live Campaigns — If a creative’s rights expire while a campaign is running, XR automatically helps prevent further non-compliant delivery:
    • Digital / VAST: Removes the affected creative from active tag rotation.
    • Social: Inactivates the affected creative on connected social platforms.
  • Advance Expiry Notifications — Receive completion alerts about upcoming rights expirations so your team can act before active campaigns are affected.

Key Capabilities

1. Configurable Pre-Trafficking Enforcement

Choose how XR handles rights compliance issues during campaign setup:

  • Warning Mode (Advisory): Displays compliance issues on the Media Plan Summary tab while allowing you to continue trafficking.
  • Error / Blocking Mode (Strict Enforcement): Prevents trafficking when required rights are missing or do not match, so the issue can be resolved before launch.

2. Comprehensive Rights Validation Checks

Before trafficking, XR compares the media plan with the creative’s Talent & Rights records to confirm the following:

  • Channel Rights: Confirms that assigned assets hold valid digital or social usage rights.
  • Destination & Destination Category Rights: Verifies that specific destinations (e.g., TikTok, Hulu) or broader destination categories (e.g., Retail Media/Ecommerce, Streaming, Editorial) are covered under the assigned Rights.
  • Territory Coverage: Confirms that each placement’s geographic targeting is covered by the countries and territories authorized in the rights agreement.
  • Rights Expiry: Confirms that usage rights remain active through the placement’s scheduled end date.

3. Automated Midflight Safeguards

If an asset’s rights expire while a campaign is live, XR provides an inactivation option, which results in the non-compliant creative being inactivated.

  • Digital Video / VAST: Removes the expired creative from the active VAST tag rotation while leaving compliant creatives available to serve.
  • Social Campaigns: Inactivates the affected creative on the connected social platform.

How to Resolve Rights Validation Errors

If a warning or blocking error appears on the Media Plan Summary tab, you can resolve it in one of the following ways:

  1. Obtain or Extend Rights — Renew or add missing digital, social, destination, or territory rights within Talent & Rights (T&R).
  2. Reassign Creative — Swap in an approved creative version with active rights matching the placement's channel, destination, and geography.
  3. Adjust Targeting or Destinations — Modify placement geo-targeting or destination selections to fit within existing rights boundaries.
  4. Shorten Flight Dates — Adjust placement end dates to conclude on or before the rights term expiration date.
  5. Contact Your Rights Administrator — Ask your organization’s T&R rights administrator for help with rights terms and clearances.
